Ok I have now removed my Rocket raid card, after I moved all the data onto an external drive.
I reconnected all my drives to the SATA ports on the motherboard and went back to windows. I formatted up all the drives and moved the data back on.
So good so far.
Firstly I needed to get the command line setup done.
My setup is one...

Hi,
You need a TV tuner card with a CI slot. Then you would need a CAM that would go into the CI Slot. The subscription card from your cable company goes into the CAM. You would have to make sure that the encryption system used by your cable company matches the CAM that you buy.
The CAM is similar in size to a PCMCIA card but it...

What im exactly looking is a TV Tuner card that has a smartcard reader on it without using a PCMCIA adapter.

Yep, I've been pondering over a SSD alot... but (isn't there always a but?) I'm not really sure if its worth spending ~300€ for a 32 gb SSD, because SLC would absolutely be the way to go. MLC would be alot cheaper but iirc its way less durable.
Still, your comment got me thinking - what if I'd replace...

reactivating this old post just to inform that the Download Port I/O software is not required for the VFD of the Origenae S16V to work - with Vista anyway, don't know about other OS. Anyway just follow the settings posted by nanogod and you'll be all good.
BTW This case in combination with MediaPortal is a htpc dream come true...

I already have a system connected to my HDTV running MediaPortal which was just pieced together from parts I had laying around and it works pretty well (haven't tested with HD content though). I want to build another HTPC for my other HDTV, but I have to do it extremely cheap (and I mean CHEAP!!!). Below is what I have priced from...

Hi there,
I actually tried out windows home server back when it was a beta, I found it just didn't work for TV recording. Well, not when your recording drive is part of the drive pool. So, if you are going to use home server I would recommend you have a dedicated hard drive outside of the drive pool for your recordings and...

On second thought, looks like it will be between one of these:
Pioneer 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model DVR-116DBK
Samsung 22X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE Model SH-S222A
Either is around $25. Reliability and performance is more important to me that saving a few dollars. I guess I'm leaning towards the Pioneer.

I have a HVR-1250 for clear QAM over cable and it works fine. The analog is non-hardware so it is pretty crap. I use it as an alternative to my PVR-150. Set-up was fine except I had to manually go through 100's of channels to find which ones are encrypted. This...

I ended up with a racer, since ha'ent patient to wait for a M40. Anyway, both match my demands well.
It seems like the market in Norway is a bit limited for htpc. I see that some of the display from silverstone require a 25 Parrallel/Printerport. Isnt that a bit out of date?

I also recently had a SFF Compaq PC which I was trying to get to work but no luck. The integrated graphics card was too small.
I would think you need any small PC with a PCI slot and use a separate card.

Okay.. Could I dare to think Media Portal could be "controlled" by the TV Box's remote?
[Edit] I noticed my media boxes remote can be programmed to command the TV, a plugged "recorder" of choice etc.
Would it be possible to program that remote to controll the PC through a IR USB Adapter?
Okay. I don't really want Tivo. Just wanna...

Definitely CPU power
Any reasonable modern GPU will do the job (H.264 decoding required)
but if you start to play with DVD to 1080p upscaling (ffdshow+avisynth filtering) you run out of CPU very very fast.
I am personally using an intel core2duo E6600 CPU (which is enough for a decent upscaling job) but a quad core CPU would...

The DVD spec limits bit rate to something like 10Mbs. The best I have seen a 54g connection run at is about 20-25Mbs with a very good signal.
I dont think you will get anything like the quoted 54Mbs but you should get enough bandwidth.

The CPU might be the reason.
Go into the BIOS and manually set the HT link to 1.8Ghz. Or use AMD OverDrive to adjust the HT3 frequency.
You need a HT of 1.8Ghz to enable those functions on a >1280x1024 resolution.
