The quickest way I have found is open up the MP Configuration, expand Television -> TV Channels.
Click on the column you would like to sort by and if it isn't fully to your liking, move them one by one if needed. I would recommend backing up your TV Channels first though just in case you don't like the sort order.

Well the zap2it plugin pulled in the full guide plus two addional updates, but nothing since then. The log file looks just like the first time when I couldn't get it started.

don't think so - just the latest stable version :) It must be re-importing it from DVB-T over and over then (I emptied the tvguide.xml file). But it's only for some programmes on some channels too. if MP is running, then you don't need to execute TVGuidescheduler.exe
Webepg writes a new xmltv file and MP detects that it has been modified and starts importing it.
Note: This works only, if you have entered at leat ONCE the EPG after starting MP. Otherwise the new xmltv is detected, when you leave and start mp again...
