I've having problems where the recordings made from 720p channels seem to be corrupted and play back with a lot of stuttering and video continuity errors. I don't have any problems at all with recordings made from interlaced channels on the same mux. Live TV is fine on all channels.

I'd use something like GraphStudio ('connect to remote graph') to check the filter graph when playing the files in MP i.e. is it using the codecs you expect, and is the MPC-HC video codec actually using DXVA ?
(You might also need 'proppage.dll' installed/registered to allow GraphStudio to work properly under Vista).

This all depends on the codecs you use for TV. If the codec you use for TV properly outputs the image using the reported aspect ratio of the stream, then you could use Normal, so it outputs using the reported aspect ratio, or Stretch if you want to fit the image to the screen even if it's 4:3 on a 16:9 screen.

afaik you cannot have tv recordings in tv-recordings section of mp without tv server.. fact is tv server supplies the recordings data from the sql database..

I have MediaPortal with the latest SVN. When i put some Audio CD's in the dvd/blu ray player then mediaportal wants to mount something from the cd and then daemon tools gives a error.
It only happens with some of the audio CD's. Some have the same problem ?

I overcome this by disabling error reporting functionality in xp, control panel->system->advanced tab->error reporting->select disable error reporting option. This way error doesn't show and everything is fine.

I can relate to this. Perhaps there could be an option to instead just show a progress bar or something and the text "MediaPortal starting" instead. It can't be hard to code, and might make alot of people happy.
