But the solution that fitted my needs best was using myfilms and creating separate catalogs for kids, movies, films, etc - those can be chosen via remote and contextmenu and even locked by a pin to let not the kids watch stuff thats not for them ...

I'm not a MS XP expert but it's my guess that there is no way to avoid windows drivers to be used. There a a core part of the implementation of the USB part in windows. All components (device drivers) that uses USB will hook on to the MS dll's to be able to communicate with the OS.

I solved the problem by uninstalling everything and install it from the bottom up. So I didn't copy files from the backup directories which are made if you uninstall MP.
I decided to do this because there where more thinks going wrong (like strange behavior is the power management plugins).

I've not got around to configuring the remote as yet, still using a wireless keyboard as I attempt to get the display working properly.

Do they have to be named specific with the logos? I've kept them as PNG files but wasn't sure whether to keep it as Nine Digital, Ten Digital for the Australian Channels.
Update: Solved the problem. The MP site had the AUssie logos and I needed to download that and it install with MPinstaller.

Make sure you have Aero theme enabled otherwise EVR renderer does not work correctly.
Also choose either M$ codec for video or PowerDVD\Avivo codec.
Onboard graphics, its always better to allocate memory rather than auto, ie 256mb should suffice for MP's needs.
