ok, Layer 8 Problem... It's been a time, since I assembled a PC, so I did not know, that I have to connect a 2nd power cable to the Mainboard... Now it is running, but I am still waiting for my TV card. I'll upgrade as soon as it arrived and I managed to make it work.

Thanks for all answers! I think I will go for a SSD, also to speed-up system tweaking with all the rebooting and drive-imaging :) A new HDD for storage will also be included. The CPU and GPU change will be postponed, what I have i working and I don't want to risk problems right now. Now, time to decide on a TV card for...

I used the Zalman Reservator 2 tower about 4 years ago. There wasn't much in the way of heatpipes around and it did a good job of cooling cpu, graphics and fanless powersupply. Water was about my only option then. For the graphics card I am using the onboard card, works fine for video and TV (HDTV as well).

Hi folks, since I just bought a new TV. The Lg 32LD350, for it's great price and because of the builtin DVB-T Tuner. Also took a Newstar FPMA-W935 with it for wall mountig. This would be the perfect moment to replace my current HTPC which is placed in a ugly case and has old hardware(like a AMD XP 3000+). Current one can barely...

I'm using an HD4250 integrated and it's fine for SD content (like you I have very little HD to put through the TV at the moment). Assuming the integrated graphics is of a similar power I think you'll be fine. I'd certainly say try it and add a discrete card later if you find the integrated graphics are not up to scratch.

Hi there, I can not comment on the NAS software/OS - A lot will depend on any extra "services" you may wish it to do (backups, printing, DNS, DHCP, etc) As for RAID, it comes down to your RAID controller. Normally, when you create an array (RAID1,5,6 most common types - unless you class RAID0 as a RAID) the disk size is governed...

Isn't the PSU fan sucking air? This is a different story compared to a tower case. By having multiple fans at the same level of height, on different locations trying to pull air out of a case, is not an ideal solution I guess. You will have better results (airflow) by clearly pulling air on one side and pushing on the other. Just my...

Re: AW: MediaPortal TVService on virtualized Windows XP Thanks so much for the quick repy! I think I'm going to try to start playing around with amahi this weekend. I realized the community was small, and agree that I was a little skeptical because of that. It seems that it is working pretty well for most people. If Amahi works...

Hello all, Just something I wanted to share. Yesterday I have finished the single seat installation of MP-1.1.0. It took me a couple of ours but I am very pleased with the result. Since a long time I can use WebEPG again! This was the only shortcoming I encountered with the previous version I was running (1.0 RC4). Now I could spare...

Hi Nikos I'm intending to purchase the Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H motherboard, in fact two of them, so I'm wondering how you got on. Did you get either of these and if so which one? I expect the 880g to be the slightly better of the two. My biggest concern is the ability to place smooth h.264 at 1080i with dxva enabled. Have you...

Re: AW: Re: Project "Add a new room to your configuration" You're talking about resolutions, I'm talking about the media the broadcaster publish. 1080i media requires deinterlacing, that is more GPU power. To deinterlace 1080i the GPU must take each frame of 720 lines (odd and even) and combine them together in two consecutive...
