I've combined the SD and HD local channels I get. Not only do i no longer get channel info via schedules direct but I can no longer record on the combined channels. I either would like to know how to UNCOMBINE channels or make this work. Perhaps I misunderstand the features intended function... but if not, this is a stupid...

If you rename the C:\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal to Mediaportalold and uninstall\reinstall, will config start then.
Also check the virtualstore for any MP details and delete.
ie, c:\users\name\AppData\VirtualStore\Program Files\MyApp\UserData, name needs to be your log on.

I had the same problem. The configuration utility gives the "tvservice not started" error while the windows service had started succesfully. I tried to restart the service several times but without success. AlfredENeuma's solution (kill the tvservice process) worked perfectly, thank you!
