In the latest SVN (14625) i've added Crossfading support for ASIO Playback.

as i don't have native ASIO Hardware here, using ASIO4ALL, i would ask people with ASIO devices to test it and give me some feedback.

    thx,

    Helmut

I am also running ASIO4ALL and crossfading works fine :)thx: - I asked you if this was possible a while ago - you are a wizard!).

    Found a few things though:
    * Selecting another song makes sound "micro-pause" (or mute?) a few ms.
    * Sound got full of noise after a while. This probably due to my poor onboard-audio (Realtek ALC655), so don't mind it if nobody else reports a problem.

    My connections is as follows:

    Realtek ALC655 ---coax---> Logitech Z-5500

I'm using the ASIO4ALL driver and Realtek HD Audio onboard soundcard.

My crossfade kind of works - there are 2 short pauses as the tracks fade into each other.

Thanks for your hard work :)

Well the secret is not to commit anything, if you don't know when to do it. :)))

    Found a few things though:
    * Selecting another song makes sound "micro-pause" (or mute?) a few ms.

i have a minimum buffer of 500ms, can't go below that.
    And that is still played.
However with Fade In/out on Stop you shouldn't notice it.
Or do you have set that?

    * Sound got full of noise after a while. This probably due to my poor onboard-audio (Realtek ALC655), so don't mind it if nobody else reports a problem.

Hm, probably as you said an issue with your hardware. Don't have that and others didn't report it as well.

    thanks for testing anyweay.

I'll check the Pause issue, altough i didn't notice it.
Maybe it's a combination of different parms.

Id just like to add to this thread, I have noticed since installing the stapshot with asio crossfading it has totally screwed up my ASIO output - sound quality has gone down the drain with a horrible buzzing noise. And this is with crossfading disabled. I re-installed the snapshot just before this and all is back to normal.

Same here too. I'm getting regular glitches and there is a terrible mess inbetween tracks. I don't even want crossfading!

    ok guys,
i'll put together a test program with both methods available.
i'll post it here, when ready and ask you to run a test and tell me the result.
i'll try to gather as much information as possible to see what's happening.

    hopefully we can fix it.
i have some idea, what might cause your problems, but i need to be sure, before changing too much within mp

kenwonders, parody and others having troubles with the ASIO Support.

Please unzip the attached file to a directory of your choice and execute BassAsioMixer.exe.

    1. Select a Directory containing at least 2 mp3 or ogg songs. Only those 2 format work.
    2. Select an ASIO Device
    3. Press the "Start 1" button and let play 2 songs.
    4. Press the "Stop" Button
    5. Now Press the "Start 2" button and let play 2 songs.

You don't need to wait for the second song to finish, just let it play 10 seconds or so.
There is a Default Cross Fading of 4 seconds set.

Post the file output.txt, which is created in the program directory and let me know, how the 2 sample sound like.

    thx,

    Helmut

Greetings Helmut, I have just performed the tasks, and found 2 different but incorrect results.

'Start 1' reproduces the problem in Mediaportal for me. A click/pop every second or two, increasing with song detail.

'Start 2' is playing way too slow, something like 1/8th of the speed.

    MP1 MP2 MP2 - V2.4.1 Mouse support for timeshift DE
I guess it's really a rare case, most users use remote controls, then keyboards and last mouse.
