Look into Start->Programs->ffdshow->Video Decoder Configuration->Codecs
Check if DivX 3 and DivX 5 / 6 are enabled (libavcodec).

I had similar problems with one of Realtek 3.9x series of drivers, just switched back to one of the 3.8x and it solved the problem.

MP uses directshow filters for video and audio playback. All the above codecs i gave you are directshow filters thus MP will use them once installed on your system.

i dumped the DBs and set everything up again. That sorted that problem.
