- when FLAC is selected as an extension nothing happens at all
- when MP3 is selected, it launches WIMAMP but it does not play the file either

Thanks for the reply, however i found that the mediaportal wasent the problem afterall, seems that my son playing with the keyboard was just a couinsidence, it was actually my GFX card that decided to stop working:oops: properly, installing a new and fixing my sound settings made it all work as a charm :-)
