When I record a film, program or TV series episode the file names are all stored the same...
i.e. "Title - Channel - Date/Time"...

with external players (bsplayer, vlc,...), these subtitles are recognized:
wall-e.srt
wall-e [dual].srt
wall-e -spanish-.srt
etc
But, with MP only
wall-e.srt
is recognized

Simple really, The original poster was asking for suggestions, and that was mine.
I found that XP + VMR9 was tearing like crazy when playing 24hz content with a 24Hz refresh rate on my TV. So my opinion would be to use Vista and not XP, I guess yours is the opposite.

I have experienced a similar problem in the past with stuttering or what I would call 'surging' where the picture runs fast then slow (audio is fine). I found that changing the "Video Renderer Setting" in "Direct Show Filter Contol" to the EVR option fixed this - try it out!

I think too, it seems that your installation didn't installed the MediaPortal Video and Audio Codec, look in your MediaPortal Configuration if you have an other Codec to use and try this one.
