Currently if you press enter/ok on a track it adds the whole folder of tracks to the playlist and starts playing the selected item...

I think by default mediaportal should not group artists / album artists into A,B,C as most users do not have enough music to make this necessary. The people that do have a lot of music are probably power users and are more than capable of implementing this grouping by themselves.

if you set viz up but do not set to show on now playing you should get fanart and everything will work without viz
then if you go fullscreen (x on keyboard or red button on remote) you will get full screen viz. Press again and you are back at fanart.

Of course I have noticed this option quite some time ago and since it stayed there, I was really curious if I was missing out on some feature - could not imagine it is of 'no' use.

You could use MPTagThat or WMP, don't know how other editors handle multiple artists, to separate artists/albumartists/composer by a semicolon.
The MediaPortal Tagreader recognises this and splits them up correctly again.
