After changing the "Microsoft MCE.xml" file in the "Program Data" folder back and forth without any success I changed the default file in the MP installation folder to see if the default settings were used.

I have found out the cause to my problem thanks to everyones help & alot of aches & pains ... somehow on my desktop pc MediaPortal works, both pc's have the same version of windows installed (for testing purposes) from the same CD, yet it doesnt work on my htpc! Go figure!!
