EDIT: Never mind, it seems it was probably caused by the TV card not having initialised properly after waking from standby...
This happens when you have issues with one plugin. THe spashscreen runs in its own thread. Something is blocking the thread from exiting during startup.
With logs it would be easy to tell as the beginning of loading/starting plugins and the end is logged.
