I think the options are self-explaining: grabbing while idle will always grab the EPG (depending on the time interval chosen), grabbing while timeshifting/recording will only grab during timeshift or recording ;)

With the correct settings, it hasn't happened in the Xfactor skin (yet).
I also think the Xfactor skin looks a lot better.
this is why I'll focus on this skin for now.
You could always try Xfactor, maybe it will work for you to.
When any other problems occur I will post it again.

Yes it works if I go to device and hit the power toggle. So it looks like when Power secheduler turns off the HTPC, the remote still thinks its on and so sdoesn't send the power toggle.
If I could work out how to send a PC shift key rather than the power toggle each time I'd have the problem beaten as shift would do...

I intend to use this for playing stored videos, DVDs , Music and TV so that won't work for me. Also my power toggle works both ways so I still have an issue with it turning off if I program an extra power step.
The remote works fine if I just leave the unit on. It just seems to have a problem wakig up the box if I use the watch TV...

Yeah, I think your right, the 650 is the better choice. Before I didn't think about the fact that the 300 doesn't come with a display. The 650 is able to control 5 devices. If this is sufficient for you, you should be happy with it.
