Solved the problem by adding VGA(!) heatsink coolers on the TV chipset on the Twinhan, its 29C in my flat today and the stuttering hasn't occured after 3 hours of the watching live + recording stuff using my other FloppyDTV tuner.

Has XP got all its updates ok.
Should be 4.09.00.0904 is the latest.
sounds like you have a corruption of the registry if dxdiag will not run/install.
personally if I had that type of corruption on a HTPC, I would reinstall windows, after reformatting the drive.

I actually managed to get it working this afternoon by editing the capturecard xml file to have the same settings that were coming up in the error log.
I think I just need to get a new gfx card for the machine tho, because the video is laggy and out of sync, and takes ages to change channels.

Just to update, I started MP in windowed mode and found that the picture was fine and displayed in full, this is while the window was of a certain size.
As I stretch the window it is fine up to a point and then it starts cropping the right hand side of the video.
