Hi,
I am running both server and client as stated in signature with only 80 Watts, the specs you are looking for must be able to run with less (unless your CPU consumes alot (do not know the power consumption specs of that one)
BTW I'm able to run 720 and 1080 H.264 via CoreAVC (software encoder) -> CPU at 98% usage...

It could be the size of the pics.... scale them down to a little more efficient transmit size... 1280X1024 (if you need big pics) or smaller (smaller better)
very cool opportunity and nice grab on the goodies. looking forward to more pics.

Hi all, wanted to report to you on my progress with my latest purpose built HTPC.
My previous HTPC was an old IBM small form factor 2.8Ghz P4 with 2GB DDR400 Ram, running Ubuntu 7.04 and Freevo 1.7.x - it was okay until I started trying to play the latest blueray/hddvd rips etc, which is when I decided to look for something to...

Good point! I actually hadn't thought of that when I installed them, it just seemed logical by the color code. I checked it out, however, and it's recommended to use slot A1 and B1 for dual channel mode. Thanks for the heads up! :)

Great blog though it took me a few minutes to realize that the newest info is always at the top. It appears that you are set up for HD, and have installed Windows Vista. Im looking for the same kind of solution. And started to look at something like the PopCorn Hour to stream TV-signal to with UPnP.
But it doesn't seem to be working with MP1, you just have to wait for MP2 to implement TV-Server and UPnP.

The general process I use for setting up a RAID array in windows is the following:
Assuming bootdrive is a physical single drive
1) Only connect the boot drive. This ensures your boot sector and C: allocation goes to the drive you want them to go on!
2) Install windows on your boot drive.
3) Power down
4) Connect Raid drives
5) Go...

Sounds like you did well. The fan control you mention - is that the plastic switch that comes with the Zalman CPU fan that controls the fan speed? I didn't use that either - it may be ok on some PC's but just looks horrible on a nice HTPC case.
Lovely case, by the way - link here for those interested:

If you plan on viewing 1080i or 1080p h.264 or VC-1 HD streams this system may not be able to cope as it is now. The addition of a $50 AMD/ATI HD3470 PCIe video card will go a long way in offloading from the cpu the very intensive task of HD video decoding in particular with these two very popular formats.
