Okay, After a big failure with the Silverstone LC-05 case, I have started a new build. The LC-05 case did not have the power requirements or the space (height) for the Intel motherboard. I am still hanging on to the Intel Motherboard, but have now ordered the Silverstone LC19 case. Its still low profile, but will be able to...

Hi This is my first HTPC, I built it out of an old Foxconn e-bot PC that I found in the basement, it has 20Gb hard disc, 512Mb Ram, and a GeForce Fx5200 graphics card. I am running just the standard MP, no added plug-ins. There is 14Tb of Hard Disk space, and a ZapStream remote control. The PC is connected to a Monitor...

very nice. I was wondering about the case though - Its hard to tell from the pictures, but the drive trays seem to have 3 light pipes for the drive status (power, activity, and failure I supose) does the backplane have 3 LEDS to support this? From your pictures it looks like there is only 1 blue one. I am wondering if I added a...

Will do, but the insulation that I have at home for the moment is 25mm thick. It worked great in the old case but I think I need to find something else. One thing already done is the hdd cage. It's now completely loose from the chassis. Standing on lots of rubber. edit: well, after a couple of weeks laying sleepless at night I...

I cant help about 1080p because my screen only supports up to 1080i. I do not have any issues with flickering, syncing, etc. All looks well. Same for 720p. Now I dont know if issues arise when you go to 1080p or not, but I do know many people have issues with ATI based solutions...which is why I disabled onboard ATI and went...

Haha.. well its not a backbreaker like the classic, but still quite a heavy machine I must say that its all pretty cramped inside, obviously that shouldn't come as a big suprise considering the name, mini , but never the less it still gave me some headaches during assembly. (Especially the Borg VGA is a tricky thing to fix. )...

MP1 MP2 Ongoing My HTPC Build DE
Hi, The graphics card seems ot be running fine, not too hot. I first set this system up using the stock P4 cpu cooler and when ripping DVD's to the HDD the sound was like a jet aircraft. I replaced the cpu cooler with the skythe one and now (even when encoding/ripping dvd's ) the sound is very quiet. I bought some silent...

(Thats why I choose the name :-) ) I dont use that dongle anymore. I now have a ASUS Xonar DX. But I have read about issues with the new 9.1 CAT from ati regarding the sound. I did get it to work with Realtek HDMI audio drivers. I think they are better with sound. You can give those a try. See: Realtek

Hi All, I thought as my first post I'd let you know about my first HTPC build! I've been building PC's since I don't know when but I've never built a HTPC so I decided to give one a crack to go underneath my Sony KDL-32V4000. It's going OK, slowly getting there but I have a long way to go and a fair bit to learn -...

Hi, Unfortunately I have no further info on how you may be able to do that? I am assuming that somewhere someone has probably done what you want, but with lord knows how many bits and pieces etc etc etc. I would say it may be better (and easier) to get a card that does support the diseqc switching and then sell your card on...

Cool system you have there, BachManiac (and I mean literally cool :) )! I also use notebook as my HTPC, Toshiba Qosmio F30 + Sony Bravia 42' LCD and DvbWorld S2 tuner for satellite reception. agree with these comments very much. the antec fans are not good (=quiet) enough in the micro fusion. disappointing as I have had larger antec case with 120mm fans that are "good enough" from silence point of view. yeah.. right.. 3000 DVD's :o It would take me about 20 years to see them all :D But seriously, Isnt reliability not more a software issue then a hardware issue these days? I have a very generous Internet Service Provider, I never spent a dime on ADSL modems and get a new one from them about every two years, I just have the Fritzbox for a month and bought the Fritz Stick on Ebay for 17 euro's in the hope the 125Mbit/sec would help me...

Hi there! Hava you checked the specifications of your A/V receiver? It may be that your problem came form the fact that many A/V receivers only have a switching matrix inside. They don't mix/convert between signal. That means that you only can have the kind of signal you need at the output if it is present at the input in the...

I run a setup with server/client on a AMD 4850e (dual-tuner DVB-T) and streaming to two clients (well, one client and then the server itself) doesn't even break sweat on the CPU. Highest temp. was 44 degrees celcius. CPU load is below 15% at all time. The Athlon is a single-core, but why don't you do a test before upgrading?

the atom can play 720p h264 without inloop deblocking, but 1080p will never happen in software decoding. as for the cheapest 1080p cpu, basically any current dualcore does this, dont get cheap when selecting a cpu, theyre dirt cheap anyhow
