I agree, MP is AWESOME, but you can tell these guys are programmers not users... Jump through hoop and hoop and hoop to get it to work then edit by hand a bunch of stuff etc.... They dont seem to big on simple and automatic. :)

Yes, it is a recognized problem with ATI's DXVA function when decoding H264.
Here in Spain every ATI user have the same problem with HD channels (only two of them).
You just have to disable the DXVA function, whatever the codec you use (I use ffdshow), which is a shame, because it'll use your CPU instead.

There are some known issues with FF/RW in MP 1.1.x - there are improvements/fixes coming in MP 1.2.0 beta (not yet released), meanwhile using skip steps (arrow keys) works quite well :)
