You have options under the Mediaportal Configuration. IE the Video folder.. if you do an edit of the current video folder you will find an option to set the default view. The same applies for your music folders.

I'd recommend that you get a card with hardware encoding capabilities.
Reasons:
- Will not chew your CPU (--> lower noise)
- Will work well with MP (as all hardware encoding cards are supported)

Shift+1 is a good hint - and indeed the framerate is not as it is supposed to be. Sometimes is displays an average of about 20 fps, sometimes 45 fps.
As I use a PAL source, both values seem wrong to me (they should either be 25 fps or 50 fps).
HD-Video-Files (.mkv) seem to play back correctly at 23,96 fps...

Thanks for the reply. You were spot on. I think I must have had a corrupted file. To solve I just installed 1.0.1 - the install loaded a newer DirectX version. I wasn't really ready to go to 1.0.1, but what the heck - at least MP is now working.
