Looks like a really nice setup. Are you using it for gaming or any other purposes besides the HTPC? I noticed you threw in a 4850 video card! How is the heat in that case?

Hi, some time passed in between, but now I tested MPStandbyHandler with my setup. In deed it fixed the re-init after standby problem with my SkyStar 2 PCI card. But unfortunately it seems to induce new problems. Scheduled recordings sometimes get not executed now (systems wakes not up) and form time to time MPStandbyHandler...

MP1 MP2 Ongoing D-Link DSM-320 DE
Thanks for the reply - I think I saw a few of your posts on this in another thread. I tried TVversity as an alternative to the supplied D-Link software some years ago, and while it was ok, it was never that stable on my (wired) network. Ideally what I would like is integrated UPnP service on MP, but I will try that plugin for the...

MP1 MP2 Ongoing Server Problem DE
It is not cleared (unless you explicitly clear it). While it will likely log disk errors, it might not log the reason for the crash (since the O/S crashed the software can't run to log the errors). If you find some events that might be the cause, try Googling the event ID.

I pulled the USB on purpose :-) with the goal to disable it. The VFD is just a piece of crap that doesnt work as it should, it interferres with other USB devices and that is totally unacceptable. Beside that, the Imon infrared eye reacted to my Marantz remote, it also interferres with the USB receiver (eadio) form my Dinovo...

How would you like your hard disk: rare, medium or well done? Hi, I did it: I totally fried my hard disk. While optimizing my CPU load with HD content by using MPC-HC and DXVA I finally managed to have my CPU load as low as 15%, My video card is (as expected) off loading my CPU, but will therefore also become much hotter (around...

It's just long enough, it was a bit tricky. That's actually the only con with the PSU, the 12V cable is a bit bulky as well. I've actually measured the consumption and it's a about 420-430W. But it doesn't matter, the current setup is dead silent. I do quite a bit of H264 encoding so I sure need the horsepower.

Hi, actually you can choose where to store the timeshift files and the recordings. Both paths can be selected in the TV server configuration utility. But usually you would choose a local drive on the server to avoid unnecessary network traffic. Why don't you try out MP before building a dedicated HTPC or even a whole multi-seat...

Hi, It's been a couple of months now in the making, but now I've really started building my first HTPC. Yes that helps heaps with that problem. Currently I am running Vista MCE now - as MediaPortal wouldn't recognize my tv card and seem to have issues with the remote control with it. Unfortunely, I do plan to purchase a stand alone remote, but for now I am stuck with the one that comes with Gigabyte GT-PTV-TAF-RH rev 2.0. If anyone...

Thanks for your reply. The Gigabyte GA-EG45M-DS2H iG45 is a compact board and as there is room in the Silverstone and I want to be able to expand in the future I am thinking a "normal" size board should be better. Also, is it powerful enough for playing games (on a moderate level)? Good to hear about the CPU!

yes, I have already found that. I wish a smaller, 45W TPD version of that. Maybe we could downvolt and underclock it for less heat (it has open multiplier!). But it is still too pricey. The reason for upgrade from my X2 BE-2400 is the better HT bandwith not the CPU performance, it is enough already.
