I agree, go with the first one. You won't need even the power that it has to run the MP GUI smoothly. Plus with the money you save you can modify it to be as quiet as the HFX.

If you haven't already found it, you should check out Silent PC Review silentpcreview.com | Everything about Silent / Quiet Computers They do product reviews, but the forum is an amazing source of information on queting and cooling your case. SpeedFan is also a great tool for silencing case and CPU fans and it's freeware. I use it...

Hi all, I have this real weird problem which took me 5 days to sort out. Using Media Portal 1.0 for quite a while now as master / slave setup. First off, well done on the build. Secondly, It sounds like you are using HIP. If you are then goto File --> Preferences --> Alternate Input. In here you need to remove the UP, Down, Left, Right and Return. This will stop the 2 step problem.

Hi, I'm currently building a HTPC on the D946GCLF2 board and I can run most 1080p mkv packed movies on it using CoreAVC and som tweaks. I've been successful in running movies in the size of 8 GiB. I have it running on the ESD bag right now so I have not been able to test it so much yet. So I can really recommend this board, it...

Can you use your old copy of XP? No point in spending a ton of money on a new OS if you've got a good one already. I know there is a thread around here somewhere debating the pros and cons of these Operating Systems. You should search for it if you aren't happy with XP, but I've never had any problems with it.

I've been thinking about that. If this doesn't help, control the fan with Fan Mate I will look into that. The only thing I'm worried about then is the noise of those 2 small fan's... the smaller they are, the more noise the make I think. I've found some 1U coolers on the internet, like I mentioned above. Maybe buying that and combine...

I have done something similar - see the "Mini HTPC - Shuttle X27D" thread under ongoing HTPC projects. The Atom 330 running XP SP3 copes very well with all standard definition video and happily plays 720p downloaded test movies. It subjectively appears as fast as or faster than a Pentium 4 2.8GHz (admittedly with only 512Mbytes of RAM...

Yes, that's SOP for hardware conflicts, such as what the "Code 10" error suggests. I called Hauppauge and they had me try the card in another computer running a different version of Windows (XP x64) and it had the same problem, so they RMA'd the card. We'll see if the replacement fares any better! Thanks for the reply, J
