As an update this still happens. I am now running Win 7 final with MP 1.1 Beta and the latest SVN.
It happens both on networked and local files.
If I use the jump step it works and doesn't crash. It's only the standard REW or FF
I am using SAF, latest version, now.
The log does not show anything happening as it's a sudden full reboot.

It turns out that 0.2.3.0 is indeed less demanding. I find it unfortunate that the latest MP is so picky about graphics, there is a lot of dirt cheap hardware that can play non-HD content (which I'm sure is still fine with most ppl), but not to run MP.

i had the same problem, but with different version of SAF, I'm not sure if this applies to the latest SAF, but...
When i installed saf it gave me two choices for xvid/divx decoding, from memory if i choose the non mpc (higher quality) option then i couldn't play the files.

I would also recommend that once you get it working that you use the YAC external plugin instead.

There are great advantages with that one, for instance that it automatically pauses running media (tv, music, movie etc)

i think this should work...
copy \appdata\team mediaportal\... and \program files\team mediaportal\...
then install mediaportal on new computer
then overwrite with backed up files
you may need to rescan/remap tvserver channels
