Checking windows firewall there were multiple entries for MP (I suspect caused by multiple reinstalls !!) Removed them all....Restarted MP - firewall grumbled..told it OK and hey presto have TV.

You didn't mention what channel you're viewing, but either way the streams from Optus D2 and D1 (Freeview, Sky) are digital MPEG 2 - the blurriness will have nothing to do with TsReader or TsWriter. If you like the quality of the image produced by MC then use the MC video codec in MP. Set the MPEG codec on the TV tab...

Did you install 4TR after MP (so that it over-writes the MP TV Plugin dll)? Also, on all my clients, 4TR Radio appears before 4TR TV in the MP plugins section, so it seems odd that yours is reversed.
I have 4TR radio disabled & have no probs (running 1.2.1 with 1.6.0.0).

Yep, that is based on the RTL283* series chips. Basically anything that supports DAB/DAB+ is likely to be based on that chip.
That doesn't narrow it down a whole lot for me but I'd say you can't go too far wrong with this choice... as long as you don't get something that says it supports DAB/DAB+.
