since moving to a new flat a couple of months ago I am using the DVB EPG grabber more extensively again and I have not had a single freeze of TV server. Is it possible that this got solved by accident in 1.2?

Unfortunately MP can't tell you directly what EPG data is available. Have you checked the epg.log?
I think possibly the best thing would just be to provide us with a TS dump and somebody can run it through an analysis tool to check if data is available. Instructions for providing a TS dump are -->here<--.

Yes, the powerdvd 11 codec does the job. In fact SAF6 also solved my problem with having stutters in .mkv files containing DTS audio streams in combination with subtitles. I guess the LAV audio decoder could have something to do with it also.
