MediaPortal doesn't support grabbing North American (ATSC) OTA or cable guide data, so the built in "DVB EPG" grabber is not going to be any use to you.
The SchedulesDirect plugin should work if you've configured your line-up etc. etc. etc.

I think I can confirm that CPU use in the TV guide is higher than when in TV home, but I can't confirm 95% CPU use at certain positions.
In TV home, my 1st gen Core 2 e6600 2.4 GHz CPU sits at between 2 and 5%.

Actually, the upgrade (1.2-1.4) came about from a system crash the other night after which nothing worked. I tried upgrading in case the MP installaation was broken, but didn't change much. I think I had this problem with only one or two channels (Radio 4 IIRC) I seem to have fixed it by changing the grabbing time from midnight to midday. There may be some sort of logical explanation in the grabbing time falling on the cusp of the day changing over.
