yeahh, did that but didn't help. Could then not execute/change in the MP configuration due to JIT Debugger even when I changed the machine.config to "false".
So I was trapped and had to upgrade....although it seems, that the 1.0.2. is abit slower.

It depends on the skin you're using, where to edit the elements. There's no option to hide it in MediaPortal config, you'll need to edit the xml-files.

I'd suggest trying XP performance edition (it's available as a torrent download assuming of course you have a valid, legal copy of windows). Also, you can download something called 'minlogon' which speeds up booting somewhat. Everything needs to be installed *before* minlogon.

Ever since I upgraded MP the display doesn't turn off when the video is finished.
Windows will turn off the display if MP is not...
There is very little you can do as far as I know, it takes a little bit because the time shifting file needs to buffer a second so you can pause and rew/ff live tv.
I have noticed some codecs are able to initialize a little faster, reducing the wait slightly, so you might try using a few different codecs to see if anything works...
