Maybe you should try the official 1.0 release and not a RC version. See if that solves your problem. There have been many many bug fixes from RC2 -> RC3 -> RC4 -> 1.0 GA.

Well lastnight I got my new HD Video Card installed in to the PC and started up MediaPortal. All went fine no issues or errors.

Installing a svn creates a backup, so if things do go pear shaped all you have to do is delete the program\user mediaportal folders and rename the backups to Mediaportal without the date.
You would need the matching TVServer\TVClient plugin, so you would have to reinstall those bits, just chose to not delete settings on uninstall...
