I have noticed an issue with Moving Pictures...
The actual database and thumb folders are not 'that' big though. At a collection of 4000 you can minimize your 'Thumbs' folder to under 3GB with a database folder of under 100MB. So total is less then 1GB per 1000 movies.
For piece of mine you should ensure you have at least 2GB free space to make a backup then.
