Just try both on your setup and compare. I'd say it depends on you and your equipment. I definitely hear the difference on my setup even without reencoding to ac3 by just using mpar with multichannel vs bitstreaming. Now I only use mpar with files without ac3, dts, etc.

Yes! It's a separate setting that doesn't appear in the mixer normally, and I never noticed that! I upgraded and it did not help the issue. What I ended up doing was reinstalling windows from scratch because the SSD decided to crap out anyway.
