In the case of TV series if I stop the episode and go to play it again it sops straight away and skips to the next episode showing the previous one as watched.

I've never tried a ramdisk, just use a dedicated 2TB WD "green drive" for recordings and timeshift with up to 5 simultaneous recordings and watching 1 program. I figure there is not a big difference between disk WR/RD activity for recordings/watching and using the same drive, same type of traffic for timeshifting.

Here is an update on this issue.
I uninstalled MP1.8. I then installed MP1.7 and upgraded to 1.8. This did'nt not work either.
I ended up with reinstalling windows 8.1 and after installing mp1.8 everything worked fine.
