MediaPortal does not support Usuals so what i did was use progdvb that i had installed anyway! Set my latitude etc and set the satellites i can receive!
Moved to 28.2e in progdvb, locked on a channel! Closed prgdvb then opened tvserver configuration and set 28.2e to position 1 and scanned in channels...

I would not replace the Shell - that way you remove the existing Windows Interface and replace it with MP. More difficult to debug later. Better to run MP in AutoStart and use the Little script tool I linked to above to go to the Desktop (with MP) on Startup (it just Shows the Metro/Modern Interface for a short while).
