Should do fine, just ensure you check the BIOS once the system is together as it may start the RAM in 1333MHZ and you will need to change. The system from guypetj above looks good for a client but I you are adding a tuner card etc I would go with what you have decided. Also the Asus motherboard has 2G shared memory with the GPU...

MP1 MP2 A perfect client pc DE
About 2 years ago I got myself a Gateway SX2801 pc as client. I bought this because of its size and features. This little computer has been a very welcome surprise ever since. I’ve not been able to match its power and silence, whisper quiet, with any of the HTPC’s I build myself. Recently I replace 2 of my older HTPCs with a newer...

MP1 MP2 Budget build DE
Personal opinion - the GT520 is not powerful enough for MP + 1080p display + 1080i video, for nVidia look at GT430/440/530/620/630 i.e. a minimum of 96 CUDA cores (the GT520 has 48) My take on things would be: G540 + GT520 = low(ish) end CPU + low end GPU A8-5500 = mid range CPU + low/mid range GPU (but make sure you use...

Sure, you need a decent one... I usually use Vanco and decent Cat6 cables (have it on a roll, so I get the proper length I need). Had very good experience with this one: http://www.vanco1.com/catalog/Extenders_171/HDMI-Extender-over-2-UTP-Cables-with-IR-Control-100-ft30m_694

I too have experienced this problem with amd apus. Try these three simple things in windows 7 as I believe it to be aero related. Under 'Performance' select...

So, I bough the Geforce GT520 and MP Avalon Skin runs a lot smoother now. Still not quiet as nice as my newer Intel Pentium G850 HTPC, but a lot smoother than with the Geforce 8300 IGP. So for around $50, this was definitely a very nice upgrade. Next step will be replacing the old 80GB System-HDD with a SSD... Cheers
