I guess EVR isn't as much the problem as Aero. Aero is really the problem with EVR. If I disable aero, then I don't get any stuttering while doing other tasks. Unfortunately, disabling aero causes tearing instead. If you could use EVR without aero and not get tearing that would be cool too.

I've had issues with TV playback when turning on HDMI attached tv.
This was solved by using Catalyst 8.7 and PowerDVD codec.
(MPC/ffdShow/MP codecs made me loose sound and get a stuttering video playback that eventually slowed down to a crash)

Turns out it was the new WD "Green" 1TB drive...
For whatever reason if that is my boot drive MP has judder... I reverted back to a WD 250GB boot drive and use the 1TB drive for all of my movies and media... I still play all my videos from the 1TBdrive, but I boot to a different one...
Must be that MP doesn't like a slow boot...

I used to use webepg (build-in), TVGG2 or other Perl or scripted tools. But you can create an account at ontv.dk and get a complete xml file to download (this can be done automatically in TV-Server using the built-in XML Plugin).
The account has a small fee (€10/year) but it's all worth it!

I Normally use the tv series plugin with downloaded shows.
if however you record one and you wish to keep it you need to rename the recorded file showname - SxxExx

Depends on how it operates I guess. Looks pretty neat tho.
I'd say it would have to operate in a manor that you could map to mediaportal actions/commands. So if you could use gestures to be recognised like keystrokes or remote control button presses then it would be fine.
