Yes! It's a separate setting that doesn't appear in the mixer normally, and I never noticed that! I must have pressed volume down inside MediaPortal at one point and it stayed that way (I normally only use the Windows volume and the receiver volume controls). That would also explain why I haven't heard button clicks in the GUI lately...

You read my mind, I ended up pulling the Xonar completly and I'm just using the onboard optical now. So far, it works fantastic. I ended up putting the Xonar into another PC I have running MP in my bedroom which is very similar to this one, but it seems to work perfectly there, too. Go figure.

I ended up on this thread because I have the same video card but the argument in the posts, are closer to my problem wich is related to codecs....I think.
The only way to see HD movies from files, is to use an external player like Nero Show Time or Power DVD. They both work fine...

Look, I have no problem with H264 videos, so maybe could try to reinstall CoreAVC, the only difference is that I use a NVidia video card
